This event, in commemoration of the of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (6 April), will provide the international community a unique opportunity to discuss the role of sport in promoting development and crime prevention strategies and programmes for youth and children as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The opening session will be followed by three interactive multi-stakeholder panel discussions including Olympians and distinguished athletes, sports personalities, representatives of Member States, civil society and international organizations.
